About Me

Born in 1976 in Lichfield, Staffordshire (England), I grew up on a narrow boat with my father, a geography teacher, keen naturalist, mountain climber and general outdoor man. I spent every spare moment exploring our country's waterways, mountains, coasts and moors with him.

I studied Countryside Management at the Welsh Institute of Rural Studies and did a Post Graduate Certificate in Environmental & Developmental Education at South Bank University, London. I have worked for several different environmental organisations from the RSPB, to the Wildlife Trusts and County Councils, working mainly in Environmental Education roles, all of which have firmly cemented my passion for anything "wildlifey" and the desire to share it with anyone who is willing to listen, I'm definitely right at home scrabbling about in the undergrowth looking for bugs with 30 kids in tow or knee deep in landfill trying to stress the importance of recycling!

I am married to Alan and we have 3 gorgeous children. We live in a beautiful little village in the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains. I work for the Forestry Commission as part of a busy recreation ranger team running a red kite feeding station. I absolutely love my job, it's so varied you can never be bored and the site is so stunning...even in winter.

In my spare time I volunteer for the RSPB as a leader of a Wildlife Explorer Group. We meet at our local school and take part in various wildlifey things! I am also part of our village Community Woodland Group, developing a 30 acre woodland into a place for local residents and school children to use as well as encouraging the flora and fauna of the area.

Hmm...what else....I also love poetry and writing, one of my dreams is to write a book and have it published. I love walking, birding and have most recently taken an interest in wildlife photography. I hope to take it up as a serious hobby, as I find it both fascinating and challenging.

So that's me!
